Imagine: In hospital suddenly. No phone charger. Finished the novel from the library which was in the backpack. Craving a flat white and something besides sudokus whilst waiting my turn, I found Tory's book in the shop upstairs (yes, upstairs).

I finished The Arc within 2 days, not to fill in the long hours, but because I wanted to find out what happened next. If anything, I rationed myself to a little bit at a time, to savour the words. Now, a couple of weeks later, I can't remember when exactly I finished the book, but it was before I stepped outside into the crisp air awaiting pickup from a friend (we have no buses on Sundays).

If will be very surprised if The Arc book is not picked up for the big screen, even better when it is on Netflix so millions more can enjoy it.

I look forward to Tory's next novel.

NB: My paperback had a different cover.
